Hair problem??

Hair problem??

You could try moose or some styling product that will keep this from happening.

Hair problem??

Zac efron's Hair Stile?

I always have my hair like my mom used to comb it when i was little ,since next year im going to high school i want to get a new look kind of like zac efron's but my hair is kind of wavy and when is to long it curls what can i do to comb my hair like zac's(hair products, etc)

Zac efron's Hair Stile?

Bed Head products are good and work well. They will hold the hair in place for a long time.

Zac efron's Hair Stile?

if you're somewhat metro you might want to invest in a decent flat iron and a designer cut.

Zac efron's Hair Stile?

Notice how shiney his hair is ? that's becuz his hair isnt that straight and he has some product on

Get the same haircut and then when u take a shower add a little cerum to ur hair (that's what give the straightening and the shine) and blow-dry ur hair until it's dry and comb it the same way Zac's hair is combed

Why is my hair falling out?

I am black African American. I perm my hair for about maybe 1/half year.I use Soft and Beautiful perm and that is the only perm i use because i do not trust other perm and it is good.I use the perm that is normal.I take care of my hair and wash it and grease it also. I always had beautiful hair with or without the perm. My hair reach up to my shoulders and i have a lot of hair. Not so long but a lot.My hair is just like Marilyn Monroe hair or Shirley Temple.I notice about for 2 month that every time i comb my hair a lot of hair been coming out of the comb. Every time i comb my hair i have more than a hand full of hair. It been falling out in December of 07 till January 08. Is it the cold weather because when i go outside i do not wear a hat. I also notice that i been scratching my hair a lot too for about 2 month and i do have long nails. Why is my hair falling out. I have never in my sixteen years old life dye my hair and i do not comb my hair everyday. What is going out?what can i do?

Why is my hair falling out?

Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

Why is my hair falling out?

u left it in 4 too long

Why is my hair falling out?

stop using soft %26amp; beautiful perm

Why is my hair falling out?

Nothing can make hair grow faster.

Why is my hair falling out?

Its nothing big.

Dont worry, it happens to everyone.

Its winter..your hair gets try, and not texturized.

Just wash it every second day, and it should be alright.

If you have problems like this in sumer, go to a doctor.

The oil is completely natural. I have seen less hair in my comb after using it and my hair is no longer damaged. it's shinny and full of luster.

Static hair?

My hair always sticks up. when i get ready in the morning i comb my hair and the little baby hairs like to stick up. i already tried to put hair spray on it but it doesnt work. how can i keep the hair from not sticking up without using any hair products?

Static hair?

Any time static shows up it is telling you that your bedroom's air is very dry. As you toss and turn in your sleep, static builds up on your clothes and in your hair. Maybe you could try using a humidifier in your room..doesn't have to be a huge floor unit, but something small to sit on a table and to keep your room gently moist.

When you are done washing your hair, do not blow dry it, but bundle your head in a towel and let the water naturally soak into the towel. Be very gentle when you towel dry your hair..just squeeze your ends if you need to.

Static hair?

use dryer sheets !!! they really do work !!!

Static hair?

gel and hairspray

Static hair?

sometimes mouse helps or something like mouse...it helps me

Static hair?

dryer sheets. i carry one with me all the time!

Static hair?

mosue dosent work

gel makes thin hair greasy (and thats the kind that get staticy)

hair spry dosent work unless you put alot on untill its crunchy(i hate it when my hair is crunchy)

the only thing that really works is dryer sheets

Static hair?

Winter season brings static hair. We all hate static hair, and here's the deal. Try deep conditioning your hair once or twice a week. On the other days, use a good daily conditioner, rinse, or detangler. Never over-condition. Once a week, use a clarifying shampoo. Normal shampoos do not remove all the product from your hair, so you use a clarifying shampoo. You can also try putting hair lotion on your hair. Since hair static is caused by a lack of hair moisture, a leave-in conditioner or hair mousse can get rid of static. You should also try brushing with natural bristles, not plastic ones. If you have major static, a great idea is to get a sheet of fabric softener and wipe it across your hair. It helps control frizz as well.

For minor static, take a brush and spray it with hair spray. Brush it through your hair. Static electricity is caused by friction -- both between your comb and your hair, and between individual hairs. Don't comb too often, and use the highest-level conditioner you can without weighing your hair down; a leave-in conditioner might be right for you. (Conditioners coat the hair, providing insulation.) You also can try applying a drop of silicone serum.

I hope this was helpful ~~~~

Good Luck !

My Hair gets tangled and results in split ends and knots?

I have wavy hair about shoulder length. I comb my hair everyday in shower and let it dry that way so my curls stay together. But whenever I run my hand through it, my hand gets stuck and while trying to detangle it, I discover knots on each hair like a sort of climbing rope!? I later decided I would also use a brush after shower, one that is made of wood (from body shop) but I discovered that it gives me split ends, I know they are new because I just had a haircut for my split ends a week ago. I wonder If there are any solutions to this problem? I don't want to cut my hair short and I would more likely appreciate solutions not including chemicals. My hair is thin so any chemical might damage my hair severely.

My Hair gets tangled and results in split ends and knots?

The answer is easy: Your hair is naturally wavy. Naturally wavy hair is naturally tangled. I would say stop using the brush to prevent split ends.

My Hair gets tangled and results in split ends and knots?

I have the EXACT same problem....so i have to shower everytime i wanna comb my hair..... so i just comb my hair in the shower but by the end of the day u cant really expect to have ur hair detangled....thats what curly hair is all about! lol but seriously though. and i cant straighten my hair real good cuz my hair has to be dry.....and when its dry its poofy cuz i have to comb through it.....so i got the remington wet 2 straight iron and it works great! i just got it yesterday! but thats the only solution i can find for my hair. =[

My Hair gets tangled and results in split ends and knots?

I have the same sort of hair. Thin, naturally wavy, but gets tangles and split ends really easily. The only way I've found I can deal with it is to straighten my hair... I know the heat probably isn't the best for it, but I have one of those high-end ceramic ones, so that might help a little... But when I straighten my hair, it doesn't get nearly as snarly.

Hope this helps!

Every day for me is a bad hair day???

Seriously. I'm a guy and I have long hair. About 3/2 inches. I guess it's because I have a lot of hair, because no matter how HARD I comb, or how LONG, it'll never be straight. It'll either be wavy, or still a little curly. I have black hair but I have brown/blonde on my avatar because Yahoo's black hair looks blue. Well, anyways I comb my hair to the side and when I get to school or whatever, and when the wind blows, my hair gets COMPLETELY messed up and it pisses me off like hell. The top back of my head with the lil swirl or whatever the hell that things called, always sticks up when the wind blows making me look like Alfalfa. I don't use gel or mouse because that makes my hair look wet-nasty-and greasy. I prefer the skater natural look. Not emo. PLEASE HELP ME!! I use conditioner, but I don't know what it does exactly. Please answer all my problems. Thanks

Every day for me is a bad hair day???

cut you hair a lil....like a little not an inch...just to slightly shorten it...2nd...can you flat iron or straight iron your hair(yes there's a diff between them)...but if you have long hair you have to deal with it...

BTW how old are you????

email/IM me back!! %26lt;3

Every day for me is a bad hair day???

how about you cut your long hair, Long hair doesnt match any guy, it looks hideous.

Every day for me is a bad hair day???

I say try cutting most of it off.. Definitely DO NOT shave it since it's so unmanageable.. because it will be even worse when it grows back.

:) good luck

My hair is very very dry and even if i use a good shampoo or a conditinor , my hair is alsways filled with knots . I dont like my hair . Even after i comb my hair there is no end to these knots in my hair.

how can i make my hair silky , shinny and full of life .

My hair is very dry and lifeless.. Please Help me?

y doesnt your guy like your hair...

Use oil daily and use a good shampoo and conditinor and also avoid chemicals as much as possible.

My hair is very dry and lifeless.. Please Help me?

Try hot oil treatment

My hair is very dry and lifeless.. Please Help me?

As a natural way to do it, try a raw whipped egg and beer. Leave on the hair for 30 minutes before shampooing off. It will leave your hair shiny and silky.

My hair is very dry and lifeless.. Please Help me?

For really good, smooth, shiny hair, try a regular treatment, a good quality shampoo and conditioner, a leave in treatment after conditioning would help too. Get your ends trimmed regularly, and maybe a leave in anti=frizz cream will make your hair smoother and tangle free.

My hair is very dry and lifeless.. Please Help me?

it sounds like you need a good hair cut.many times using over the counter hair colors will damage your hair beyond repair.i had a perm put in my hair about 18 months ago by a stylist and she still burnt my hair some of the things i used where protein products by redkin but still i had to have it cut,the damage was far to great to repair.i take good care of my hair by using only professional products and not over washing my hair(which took me along time to be able to go a couple of days instead of washing every day)these things helped me restore my hair.

My hair is very dry and lifeless.. Please Help me?

Oiling is good for hairs, it will make your hairs smooth n silky try it,deep conditioning is also good for hairs. for dry hairs use curd and egg once or twice in a month, it's good n easy way to condition your hairs. It'll help u.

My hair is very dry and lifeless.. Please Help me?

Try using a shampoo or conditioner for damaged and dry hair. I keep my hair in ponytails to help my hair grow to the length my hair was before. You also could try to take Vitamin E tablets or use the oil to help your hair. They also have tablets you can take for skin, hair and nails stores like Vitamin World. I hope this helps.

14 hair LOSS!?!!??!?

read this:

FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

Tension

Too much work

Illness

Poor diet

Over-exposure to the sun

Perming

Amateur bleaching

Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.

Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month 闅哣 if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.

Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.

Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours

ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.

Wide-toothed comb

Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.

The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.

While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.

Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.

Leave-in conditioner

Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.

Oil

Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.

Egg

Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.

What can I eat to prevent premature greying?

Eating seafood is possibly one of the best things you can eat to promote all-over hair health. It is rich in zinc, iodine and protein, which are excellent for the hair. So if you enjoy seafood, make it a point to have fish several times a week. Remember that eating canned fish will not give you the same benefits as eating freshly cooked fish. If you don?t eat fish, consider fish-oil supplements.

Iron is good for hair and is found in dark green vegetables, meat and some pulses. If you are unsure about whether you are getting enough iron, include an iron supplement every once in a while in your diet. Remember that too many iron supplements can be bad for you. Women lose iron while menstruating, so perhaps during or after your cycle you can have iron-fortified supplements for a few days.

Eating foods rich in Vitamins B and C will ensure that your hair stays strong, does not break easily, and does not grey early. Pork, vegetables, whole grains, wheat germ, soymilk are all rich sources of Vitamin B, while citrus fruits are excellent sources of Vitamin C. Eating adequate Vitamin C helps increase absorption of iron. Try and have a glass of orange juice daily.

Your hair will never be healthy if you do not drink enough water. Drink at least eight to ten glasses a day.

What oil can I apply to my hair?

Rosemary oil is believed to gradually darken grey hair over a period of time. Soak rosemary leaves along with a few basil (tulsi) leaves, in jojoba oil, for a period of four weeks. Massage your scalp and hair with this oil (after warming it up).

Most oils are not easily absorbed by the hair, which is why you need to leave oil on for at least forty-five minutes. It helps greatly if you steam your hair after applying oil.

Boil dried amla pieces in coconut oil until the pieces turn black and the oil darkens. Apply this oil to the hair. It strengthens hair and prevents greying.

Boil tealeaves in water and rinse your hair with this liquid 20-30 times. Then, leave on for 15-20 minutes before the final rinse.

What else can I do to promote hair health and delay greying?

Washing your hair with very hot water or using hair-dryers excessively weaken roots, and may lead to premature greying. When using a hair-dryer, take care not to point it to your scalp. Similarly, try and wash your hair with cool or lukewarm water.

Will Yoga help?

Inverted yoga poses bring a rush of blood to the scalp. This stimulates circulation and enhances hair health. Do the following poses regularly:

Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog)

Sarvangasana

Chakrasana

Other easy ways to stimulate circulation are:

When you wash your hair, keep switching from hot water to cold water.

Comb your hair regularly. A hundred strokes every night should do the trick. If your hair is curly, use a wide toothed comb

14 hair LOSS!?!!??!?

stress, a terrible diet, not eating enough, hormones and a few other things can cause hairloss. Straightening less is good. Try and eat plenty of healthy foods. I would search foods that promote hair growth on a search engine like yahoo or google. If this doesn't help, your stylist should have some shampoo that makes hair grow back quicker

14 hair LOSS!?!!??!?

you can have hair loss is you don't have enough iron in your diet.

otherwise , i straighten my hair too and it falls, but its no big deal. good luck!

14 hair LOSS!?!!??!?

I'm glad you asked that question, not because I'm glad you're losing your hair, but because my ex experienced the same thing, and yet she NEVER showed any baldness AT ALL. She was in her late 30's when we were married, if that matters. And I saw her about town when she got into her 40's and still no baldness. After she showered, she left the entire bathtub coated with her dark brown hair and I just ran my hand across the tub and picked up more hair than I had on my head. Oh how I wish I could've transplanted her hair on my head. I'd've been very handsome, but, now I'm just more bald than when we were married. Oh well. I have no "cure" for your difficulty other than to say "you're not out there alone", I can promise you that. If I find a "cure", I'll try to look you up and let you know. God Bless you.

14 hair LOSS!?!!??!?

straightening your hair is horrible for your hair but maybe this can help.If you use a flat iron only use ones with ceramic or titanium metal plates. never go from wet to straight very damaging. also stress can lead to hair loss in clumps or of a larger mass. many things can affect your hair such as your diet even hormones. i would just relax unless it turn into something noticably different like a cusin you dont talk to all the time notices it. also on the straightening try using a good conditioner like biogenol by framesi use the reconditioner or the ultra deep mask if really bad. it works wonders

14 hair LOSS!?!!??!?

I feel ya pain! The same thing happened to me when i was that age. I stopped using chemicals for a while and just rinsing it when i take a shower. It grew back with no problems. But ya gotta keep in mind that we're 2 different people. But try not to put so much stress on it and just rinse it with no shampoo and it should bounce back. I hope this helps.

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

I Have dry hair and scalp. No amount of shampoos will help this problem. I have tried not shampooing, thinking the problem will resolve itself...but no, my hair is still dry, and so is my scalp. Mom puts oil in my hair every now and then. I don't want her to, but it's better than dry hair. IT's easier to comb when like this, but it doesn't stay nice. I comb it out, I comb it slow, I comb it in parts, but in the end, it just all looks clumpy. My hair is wavy, and no matter how I try to comb the waves out, it's still that way and the grease keeps it so. So my hair looks good up top, but is all clumps hanging down. Any help would be appreicated, thanks.

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

Hello,

DO NOT STOP MASSAGING OIL TO YOUR HAIR %26amp; SCALP. THIS WAY, YOU WILL NOT GET DANDRUFF TOO. YOUR MOM IS DOING GOOD THING, DON'T SAY NO TO HER.

Next time, massage oil into your scalp and hair only with finger tips 30 minutes before going to bed. Take a head bath next day morning. (remember oil should not be massaged with palm on head) Trim the ends.

Tips for getting red of dry hair:

a) Apply an egg to your hair. This helps a moisturizer and lessens the frizz

b) Apply henna: Boil one cup of water with 1 tsp. of tea powder. Mix 1 cup of henna powder , 1/4 cup of amla powder. Soak it overnight. Next day morning mix 1/2 cup of curd, 1 egg. mix and apply. let it stay for atleast 4 hrs. While washing do not use shampoo. You can use shampoo the next day. (Henna should be in a thick consistency so that you can easily apply to your hair either with hand or brush)

If you cannot apply henna by yourself, ask your mom's help; or go to a beautician.... no need of costly beauty parlor.

c) You can also follow "Catalyst's" Fenugreek seeds tip

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

when its oily you can put powder on it and it will absorb it.

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

Shampoos will work, if you look for the right ones.

I recommend the head and shoulders "smooth and silky" and the Herbal Essences line of shampoos---they have really good ones for moisture and smoothness.

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

if u live in the country and dont have a water softener, it could be the iron build up in the water that is in your hair. Even if u live in the city if u dont have a softener then u need to go to the salon and they have a wash they can do that takes the iron out and will make your hair more manageable, I have real oily hair i have to wash it everyday. I use head and shoulders, u should mayb try blow drying your hair also. Dont put oil in your hair, thats not good, if u really want to look like a grease ball put it in but not a good idea. and for gods sake dont go to a cost cutters, go some place where they have had the same stylist for a while.

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

time to go green i mean revive all the good herbs.

start massaging ur scalp with baby warm mustard oil twice a week, keep it over night wash it with a good shampoo, try using a conditioner form herbal essence which suites ur wavy dry hair,i think conditioner for frizzy hair will do,

2). sock a cup of fenugreek(methi) seeds overnight, in water (4 cups)boil them in same water till water is almost socked, cool it grind it mix juice of 2 lemons in it,2 table spoons of henna if u like store it in a jar, use it as conditioner now %26amp; then ur hair will become shiney, strong, beautiful, in 4-5 weeks, u can use it for life long.

3). for sometime stop using hot irons or blow drying as heat makes hair dry %26amp; brittle.

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

Try professional deep conditioning every month or so. Try to use a separate good brand of a conditioner and apply that twice after shampooing. Keep the conditioner in for atleast 2-3 minutes before rinsing it off. You could also try a leave in conditioner or hair serum (I like the one by john freida)...drinks lots of water and take vitamin e and a supplements.

How do you keep greasy hair looking nice?

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

Okay, I am a boy with really long hair, in fact my bangs if not combed to the sides would reach my chin. The back of my hair reaches close to the top of my shirt on my back. Anyways, I always comb my hair to the right hand side for me, left hand side if you are facing me.

I was paying for my meal this morning after a nice long breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes and there were a lot of people in line. I was wearing one of my winter coats. Anyways, I was on the opposite side of the register as a long line of people (having gotten there first), and when I was about to get my change back, the person behind the counter had forgotten who payed. One of the women in line said it was the "girl over there" but she quickly corrected herself by calling me a boy without anyone saying anything. I reached out my hand to get the money and left.

I felt kind of embarrassed after leaving about having been called a girl.

So, is long hair indicative of being a girl?

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

dude

i dont think it is

i think its hot

i mean theres a point to were it gets to long

if ur hair is like emo/scene

then thats HOTTT

no joke lol

but if its just kinda there

then i would have to see it

to judge it

:)

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

I HATE long hair on boys. sorry it completely grosses me out. and yes most people think that if you have long hair you are a girl because boys look more like boys if they have short hair. and she could have just saw your back and though you were a tomboy. if you like long hair keep it. if it embarrasses you chop it off. your choice. hope i helped.

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

No.. My youngest son has long hair.

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

no, not in this day and age.

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

No, hair has nothing to do with it...but...

Your physical appearance can be changed by anything. You can look like a girl with long hair, depending on if you straighten it, etc...

Your gender depends on your reproductive organs, of course...

My friend straightens his hair, and looking at his hair from the behind makes him look like a girl. I think it looks more masculine when grown out without touching it (besides washing)

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

back in the 60's it was extremely common, by mid 70's not so and now days yes--most males have definite male cut if longer, and even more still have short hair--which by the way I hear most girls like the shorter style--the guy looks like he cares about taking care of himself---I hear same comment from girls about pants below the butt--they don't care for that either--a lot of the girls says it looks like the guy can't afford anything better fitting.

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

it is one indicative trait of a girl, but that dosent mean a guy cant have long hair.

like, just think about it- if were in a foggy room and could barely see, and you see a blob with long hair, and had to guess the gender, you would probably assume they were a girl.

thats probably what the lady did at first glance, but then saw your face and realised you were a guy.

dont take it personally, and dont feel embarassed. that dosent mean your girl-like, girl-looking or girly in any way.

be proud of your hair :) i dont meet alot of guys with long hair, and i think its amazing.

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

I an a 50 yo man and my hair has been down to my butt twice in my life. So I would have to say NO long hair is not indicative of being female, but some people think it is. Wait until it is half way down your back, a lot more people will mistake you for a female. It is strange, but when you turn around and they see a beard half way down your belly they quickly realize that you are not a girl.

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

I surely hope that person's HAIR-LENGTH does not make them Trans-gendered!

I am growing my hair to make a donation to the LOCKS-OF-LOVE Org.

%I am as MALE as a guy can get.

I don a beard%26lt;-(not-relative), I am a Dutchman but I have such a (positive) attitude for anyone who donates; either thier TIME, TALENT, or in my case; HAIR.

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

I don't think hair length is indicative of boy or girl. My husband has very long hair, and I think it suits him well.

I guess some people do have 'old-fashioned' ideas that are still evolving. If you were mostly covered by a winter coat, then your hair might have been what the person noticed, and she obvious jumped to a wrong conclusion. At least she corrected herself, quickly.

Is long hair indicative of being a girl (please read the entire question)?

Not anymore, but it used to be. Don't worry it may not even have been a slip because of your hair, maybe she was distracted and just said girl by accident. Besides she's probably more embarrassed about her mess-up than you. My hubby has long hair. On alot of guys it is very hot.

i would sugest ethier a perm or get a crimper for like 15 bucks also if you have "spaces" that means its time for a trim.

Omfg, what's going on with my hair?

Since September I've been taking good care of my hair. I only wash it when it gets dirty, I rarely comb it or brush it(I usually just brush my fingers through it to get it the way I want it), I put conditioner in it everyday and make sure that my ends are well kept and moisturized, I keep it up in safe ponytails most of the time, I take about 7 vitamins(including hair, nail, and skin vitamins, biotin, and b12), I only flat iron my hair once a week, and I wear a silk scarf at night to protect it. Yet for some reason my hair doesn't look like its grown at all! Its about 1 inches away from reaching my shoulders, and it seems like it's been that way FOREVER.

Omfg, what's going on with my hair?

your hair is probably just slow. some people's hair is slow, some is fast. maybe you just got unlucky

Omfg, what's going on with my hair?

brushing your hair is actually one of the best things you cant do for it. especially for hair growth. it stimulates your scalp

Omfg, what's going on with my hair?

i'm pretty sure that healthy hair only grows 1/4 to 1/2 inch per month, so it does take a while to grow it long (it wouldbe more noticeable if you had a shorter style, you'd be needing to get it cut every few weeks to maintain the style. Just be patient :-)

Or, get hair extensions :-)

Omfg, what's going on with my hair?

lf you brush your hair more then l heard that it would grow faster due to the pulling on the scalp.

Omfg, what's going on with my hair?

Try washing it every night and brush it with a brush not your fingers

Omfg, what's going on with my hair?

take 2tsp almond oil, 2tsp curd, 1 egg, 1tsp heena powder mix well apply this mixture on ur hair for 1hour then wash ur hair with shampoo. after that conditioning.repeat this2 times a week for 1 month. and yes brush ur hair daily with comb or brush.

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

Everytime I wash my hair, I deep condition it and put a wrap lotion on my hair. I roller set it for it to dry. I then wrap my hair. when i comb my hair it's always frizzy even if i use deep conditioning or put oil on it. after 2-3 days of putting oil, the frizz is gone. when i go to the salon, this never happens. i don't know what my beautician uses and plus she's not gonna tell me. this sucks b/c i can't wear my hair down if i wash it and have to go out at the last minute. what can i use to get rid of the frizz after i wash it? If you think i should flat iron it, what products should i use so my hair could look smooth? thanks, i appreciate it!

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

well my hair is like thaty too but once i used the purple sunsilk, and after i took a shower i put this sstick straight smoothing gel by graham webb, i put my hair in a one braid and sleep with it and my hair calms down. u can also do it when u go out like if u take a shower in the morning , put the gel in ur hair and braid it for a little while and ur hair will look cute and wavy or curly sometimes straight if u brush it.

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

Run your fingers through it instead...it's easier believe me (same prob). or get a different comb so you don't damage your hair.

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

Use Sunsilk's Anti-Frizz.

Or None Of Your Frizzness by Herbal Essences %26lt;- rly good!

Or try a straightener.

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

One thing I recommend trying is Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. I went to cosmetology school and it works on all types of hair. Only use a nickel size or it could make your hair very very oily looking.

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

i have a friend who happens to have frizzy hair too. and she went to this salon in tanjong pagar and the lady reccommended a hair product plus taught her how to keep her hair frizz free. i think it worked like a charm for her.. (:

the salon name is "EXCLUSSIVE"

second level. just look for serene.

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

When using the wrap lotion apply a light hair oil on your hair, especially at the ends. Check to see if the wrap lotion had alcohol in it. That might be the problem.

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

I was having this problem too... After a few trial and errors (don't know if that's right) I found out that the setting lotion I was using wasn't right... now I know foaming lotion like Motion's work best for me... and it also helped to use oil sheen to the rollers, then to the hair while I was wrapping, as well as when I'm styling it.

Hope this helps!!

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

great and send it to youtube for my observation!

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

first of all after you condition your hair try vigoral mousse it doesn't dry your hair like wrapping lotion. Biosilk silk therapy is the type of oil for your hair. It isn't over oily and you can apply dime size daily. This should help your frizz instantly. Plus keep your ends trim that is a major contributor of frizz. Your stylist should have no problems telling you what products she uses. Most of the time it doesn't matter your hair still won't look as good as when your stylist does it

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

maybe i can help i have long hair to my lower back I have always had the problem your going through I have frizzy hair no matter what My hairdresser Jack is the best thing that ever happened for me with my hair 6 years ago I finally got rid of the frizz this is what you do and have to definitely get and trust me its worth your Penny's first you should use super skinny smoothing shampoo and conditioner from Paul Mitchell which which weighs your hair down to take the frizz out which will take two weeks at least for your hair to get use to then you will use Paul Mitchell serum which will calm your hair down even more then let air dry so allow yourself enough time before going out I do it its worth it because if you blow dry im sure you know it makes it worst take your hair in sections and flat iron it with a Paul Mitchell flat iron it is $150.00 it is expensive but ive had it 6 years and is a great investmate for your beauty and also when you separate your hair when it is dry before you flat iron you will need to spray it with Modern ELIXIRS illuminating shine spray also made from Paul Mitchell. If this is really what you want then trust me it works and your hair will be done with frizz there is no better way than this, this is as good as it gets! I hope I helped you Good Luck girl.

Black hair: Frizzy hair after i wrap it?

You can use potion number nine leave in conditioner. My friend used on my hair on sunday and it left my hair long and silky. I have long blond hair and it frizzzzzzz out on me all the time.

I am growing my hair out and I currently have a mini-afro. I have abot 1 1/2 to 2 inches of hair but

being so thick and nappy you wouldnt be able to tell unless i blow dry it straight or use a hot comb. What kind of styles could I do with my hair at the moment?

I have pix on myspace.

I am growing my hair out and I currently have a mini-afro. I have abot 1 1/2 to 2 inches of hair but?

Seriously, you should just sheen, condition, and pick your hair out everyday. Right now it's too short to do much. BUT, you could braid it. That's if you like braids. Peace.

Neutrogena dandruff shampoo. My hair used to by really fry but then I used this stuff and it was amazing!! It is a little pricey, but I know how much I wanted MY hair problems to be over! This shampoo really moisturizes the scalp. Along with it, I use a conditioner by the company 'Dove'.

Massage the shampoo into your hair and scalp and leave it in for a minute or two. Then rinse out the shampoo and put in seom conditioner. Apply the conditioner to your hair and scalp and leave it in for 1 or 2 minutes. Then, using your fingers as a brush, run them through your hair making your hair as least tangled as possible. Rinse all of the conditioner out of your hair and then you're done!

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

Lots of men love curly hair... it has lots of body and texture. My boyfriends love to play with mine :)

But I hear you on the length thing - that's because of the sproing factor, wherein a coiled lock of tresses will hang less far down than a straight one. Not much to do about it, unless you straighten your hair using a curling iron or a salon procedure... but that would be a shame. So many people envy curls...

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

honestly, men like BOOBS

it doesn't matter what hair you got, as long as it looks nice

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

Yeah, I like curly hair, I prefer it a lot than straight hair though.

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

It all depends on the person. You have to know their personality but straight hair is always good.

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

dont comb it !

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

Depends, some girls don't look good with curly hair, some girls do. I prefer straight hair probably 95% of the time personally.

Wear your hair the way you like it and the way you feel comfortable. I don't really know that many guys who would turn a girl down because they don't like the way the girls hair looks. (unless it's just downright ridiculous looking)

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

Do MEN like curly hair?

Everybody likes well groomed hair.

Period.

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

Men LOVE hair! Do whatever works for you! Ask a professional stylist what suits you best...that YOU can maintain! Long hair is a colossal pain in the butt...but men like it! I have asked why they don't grow their OWN! Have a wonderful life!

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

I like curly hair, because I have it myself :D it's long, too.

once you style it don't comb it, it will go frizzy.

Tight curly no, loose flowing curls yes.

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

all men like all hair, as long as its not unkempt men will like you

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

guys arent like girls. (Yes i know this is totally obvious) but guys dont look at one part of girl they look at a whole. They are not a big on detail as girls are with their friends.

Your hair will always bounce up a bit no matter what you do. Try a straightening cream or an anti frizz/curl. it might help a bit but your hair will never be the same lenght that it is when its wet.

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

Long Straight Hair looks better

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

Well i think it depends on the person.. i have natural curly hair and i have always hated it and so i decided to straighten it...the next day he commented on it and i felt like i look a lot more pretty. Before i straightened my hair, he wouldnt always talk to me, but after i straightened it he flirts with me non-stop.. so i say straightened hair

P.S. when i had curly hair i had to always put it up, because it just wouldnt work out and guys love girls if they have their hair down...it just looks more pretty and so if i want my hair curly i straighten it then use a curling iron and it looks wonderful!

Do men like curly hair. help me with please!!!?

it depends how the girl looks. i lik girls with curly hair, but not 2 much.

it depends

Thinning Hair?

i'am a black woman,22 year old female to start off.i had nice healthy thick hair wen i was 16-17 years old,now ova the course of maybe 5 years i bleached my hair 3 times.my hair is kinda thin, but still long.everytime i comb it,a lot of hair comes out.my hair isn't getting any shorter, just longer and thinner.well not thin like u see a bald spots, its just its not how it use to be.im planning on bleachin it again this summer, just a couple of streaks, like 10 streaks.i currently rinse my hair like almost every moth, but i stopped for a while,to see if it would change, but it obviously didn't,so i still rinse.i tried trimming it,treatments.i perm my hair like every 6 weeks.i dont know wats the problem.if u a sista that live in nyc, please help me

Thinning Hair?

It could be from the use of chemicals over the years.

It could also be from an over active thyroid. You can get it tested at your doctor through simple bloodwork. An overactive thyroid will cause thinning hair.

Thinning Hair?

all that stuff you put in your hair, give it a couple of months and you will be bald. Just do it one style you really like and keep it like that. I am the same way now my hair is black and it still falls out, just leave it alone!!!

Thinning Hair?

whoaaaa. too much chemicals.stop.listen..buy some vitamin E capsules, break one[according to how much hair is missing use accordingly] and and rub it into scalp.do this three times a day, for one week. so no more chemicals until this treament is over.masage your scalp daily, for the natural oils to flow. even when the treatment is done, use a light shampoo, steam your hair.please don't go under no hair dryer. use a shower cap on you head, and let hair steam for about 15 minutes, if you can get a conditioner that you can keep in all the merrier. please stop all the bleaching and perms, it does the hair no good.

My Hair! Its falling out like crazy when ever I wash my hair!?

I`m so scared.*Cry*. Today I washed my hair and I was combing my hair when clumps were coming out. After I stop coming and I had a big clump the size of my hand. This happed to me a 1 or 2 times. Is there someing wrong with me. :(

PS

I do have frizz and curle hair

I always put it back in a bun or ponytail

Sometime I don`t come my hair

I don`t wash it everyday

My moms hair falls out to

I have ezeama in my hair

Sorry if things are spelled wrong. Please help me. :(

My Hair! Its falling out like crazy when ever I wash my hair!?

First of all, pony tails and buns cause hair to break and come out by the root more. Secondly, that's not eczema it's psoriasis. You need a shampoo to treat it because this also causes the scalp pores to become clogged and this will cause your hair to be unhealthy at the root.

If you combed your hair daily you'd have less coming out than if you leave it for a day or two as hair comes out each day. If you leave it, it just looks like more.

Some times of the year your hair will fall out more as well.

Vitamin deficiency can be an additional cause. Are you taking a multivitamin? Flax caps and vitamin A in proper doses will help your hair. Do not take more than the recommended dosage of vitamin A or it will have the reverse effect.

If you comb your hair out daily...the old 100 strokes idea, your hair will be healthier because you are giving your scalp a massage and combing out dead skin cells...hair, etc. It is not good to go for a day without giving your hair a good brushing.

Also, find a good "leave in" conditioner for your hair. You don't need to shampoo daily but your scalp should be kept clean. Going days without washing is not good. Towel dry your hair and apply a rinse conditioner. Leave it in for a few minutes and rinse. After toweling again, apply a "leave in" conditioner.

So there you go. 1)Look into a psoriasis shampoo (or find one with Tea Tree Oil which is natural, and use as directed. 2) Towel dry your hair before using a rinse conditioner (it will work better than if your hair is saturated with water) 3) Use a leave in conditioner after toweling or drying for wear 4) Get some flax oil capsules and a multivitamin 5) Brush daily...

**********6) Look into a hair style where you don't have to wear a pony tail and/or bun so much. Give your scalp and hair a break!

My Hair! Its falling out like crazy when ever I wash my hair!?

Change shampoo, conditioner and (this will sound strange) if you drink alcohol stop. Good Luck.

My Hair! Its falling out like crazy when ever I wash my hair!?

I have the same problem. My hairdresser says it's normal and buy some of that leave in spray conditioner for no more tangles, your hair will love you for it and be careful how you pull on your hair when it's wet. It's very fragile then. If you are very concerned, talk to your doctor but they tell me that the average person loses a ton of hairs everyday.

My Hair! Its falling out like crazy when ever I wash my hair!?

Your hair goes through fall out, and grow back stages. Your fine!!! :) Mine does it every year. Don't worry!!! :)

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

Im 16.I know you loose a certain amout of hair daily but everytime I wash my hair it falls out, even when I get out of the shower MORE falls out. I use wide tooth combs so it doesn't break my hair and i only wash my hair every other day.My hair is pretty normal not too thick not too thin and it's naturally wavy and I don't dye it. PLEASE HELP ME.

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

if I were you I would talk to a beautician about this for advice.....Eat vegetables and take gelatin capsules too..

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

if your hair is falling out I would see a dermatologist, they can prescribe something.

In the meantime, continue to wash your hair every other day, and make sure you towel dry it before you go to bed.

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

One of my symptoms of hypothyroid was that I was loosing more hair that normal, also I had dry skin and a few other symptoms that didn't seem to mean much until I meantioned to my Dr. that my hair was falling out and I couldn't put enough lotion on to sooth my dry skin. Anyways, this was just my experience I thought I'd share.

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

first of all you have to cut it at least 1 inch by doing this your hair will grow and will stop falling then if you can get a non scented garlic shampoo,i have the same problem. it will work!!!!!!!!!

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

I have long thick hair, so I know what you are talking about. A few years back I was losing a lot of hair - it wasn't due to lack of vitamins from my daily food intake. I was told to watch my hair every two days (of course you can still take showers just don't wash the hair as much). The second thing I was told was to use a better shampoo and conditioner. I was given Rusk Shampoo and Conditoner. It is a lifesaver for those that have a little "unruly" hair... Plus, it really helps in hair that falls out nautrally. And since you aren't using a brush - rather using a comb, you are doing good. Also, remember that you should brush your hair right out of the shower - it can kill your hair. Wait until it is a little dry and the brush it out. Good Luck and don't worry!

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

you shouldn't comb it with brutal moves and if you loose a great amount of hair then you should go to the doctor. He will prescribe some special pills that harden your hair. and try some special shampoo, don't use balm, maybe you have sensitive skin.

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

Oh my goodness-you and I are alike. Except the only problem with my hair is that I dyed it twice. But I've come to notice that when a use a straighner or other styling device that it seems to make me lose more hair. The best solution that I came up with is to brush your hair with a long brishled brush-it helps to get the ones real close to your scalp. And it's important to use shampoo that DOESN"T thicken your hair because that causes your hair to fall out more so stay away from those and try a Pantene Expressions Shampoo that matches your hair color. Those work really good and it's not expensive!!!

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

I've heard stress will cause more than normal hair loss...see a doctor / dermatologist.

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

Move away from the nuclear power plant!

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

Hair normally falls (there is a certain cycle, might be seasonal) and if the hair loss is up to 100 hairs in a day, it is considered to be OK. In that case, avoid tight pony tails, agressive chemicals, and add vitamins and gelatin caps and use hair restoring products. If more hair is falling, you should make check up (blood sample and some investigations) and visit a dermatologist.

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

Take vitamins

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

A friend of mine started taking a vitamin - Biotin - to help hers. She said it really helped keep her hair from falling out so much, and it also makes her nails grow and get thicker.

How can I keep my hair from falling out so much?

My hair used to fall out a LOT and I found out it was because I was not eating enough (I was going through a phase where I thought I was fat, and therefore thought i needed to stop eating like a normal person) When I started eating normally it stopped falling out so much. Hope that helps!! My hair is naturally wavy too and I dont dye it so our hair is about the same.

Which is better for your hair, a brush or a comb? (and why?)?

If you have shoulder-length or longer hair, especially if hair is chemically processed, it's best to invest in a wide-tooth comb that's perfectly smooth.

When combing your hair, you're more likely to take your time instead of "ripping" through it like you would with a brush. That's because a comb won't slide through tangles, even with a lot of force, like with a brush. You have to gently work out the tangle, which is ultimately better for your hair.

Which is better for your hair, a brush or a comb? (and why?)?

if they are flying use brush if they are thick use brush.

Which is better for your hair, a brush or a comb? (and why?)?

brush you hair should not be in lines.

Which is better for your hair, a brush or a comb? (and why?)?

I say comb. Brushes can pull your hair and more comes out that way. With a comb not so much.

Which is better for your hair, a brush or a comb? (and why?)?

A brush because combs get stuck in your hair.

Which is better for your hair, a brush or a comb? (and why?)?

Both. You need the comb to detangle and then you brush from root to tip for healthy hair. A rubber comb is recommended and a natural bristle brush (boar bristle). Nylon cuts the hair.

Which is better for your hair, a brush or a comb? (and why?)?

a comb the brush strips strands of hair every stroke

Which is better for your hair, a brush or a comb? (and why?)?

a pic comb is the best for your hair. because to much brushing can damage the hair and aregular comb will be to hard to get through your hair. good luck i hope this helps!

when your hair is wet use a comb. because your hair is weaker when it is wet. only use a brush when it is dry.

A wide-toothed comb.

Never, ever, ever, never use a brush to comb out wet hair. That閳ユ獨 why they call it 閳ユombing out閳?閳?a wide-toothed comb is the only equipment that should touch your wet head.

Hair and face problem...?

you see, i have acne...sadly. but i went to the dermatologist recently, and the stuff my derm perscribed to me worked the day i got it....literally. so thats all good, but what about my hair? they way i wear my hair is with bangs and since my hair is about 2 inches below my shoulders i put it up, cuz i hate it down. but neways, since my hair is layered, some hair cant be put up, so it ends up hanging loose. since i live in hawaii, hawaii is veeeeeeeeeerrrrrryyyyyy windy, and those two pieces always touch my face! how can i put those pieces in a fashion that doesnt look ugly, and plus, it wont touch my face? if my hair was longer, then this wouldnt be a problemo. also, since hawaii is windy, i normally use my fingers to comb throuhggh my messed up hair, and when i do, sometimes i accidently touch my forhead, thus giving me acne. i konw i can just wear my hair up with a hairband that there, no hair will touch my face, but i want to wear my hair the way i want to..

Hair and face problem...?

I have layered hair too, and it's an issue anywhere.

Take two bobby pins and pin back your shorter pieces then put it into a ponytail, very cute %26amp; practical. Otherwise a dressier version would be a messy bun with the bobby pins there. Or just straigten it while using the bobbypins.

I work on a beach %26amp; need to see the water so I wear a sports headband, an elastic band that looks like a giant ponytail holder. The come in a ton of colors and you can wear them with almost any hairstyle that is up, just not down because it looks childish.

Besides, headbands that are more for fashion use are very in right now, so try some of those, too. they're super cute.

Hair and face problem...?

bobs are very in this year. They look really cute so get your hair cut short and it'll help your acne. P.S.

You can't get acne from your hair--it is a skin condition!

Try Pro-Active--it really works.

Good luck.

Hair and face problem...?

One way that doesn't show a clip or headband, is to part your hair just above the piece that is hanging down. Come this top portion to the opposite side like a "comb-over." Then part off just the section you want back and use a very small clip to put this back at the tension you want (usually you'll want to aim the clip forward at the top because of the layers). Then comb the rest back over the top so the clip is hidden. Do the same on the opposite side. You can experiment with different angles and tensions of the clipped portion to either make it invisible or give you some well placed lift.

Why is my hair falling out when i comb it?

You can stop hair loss using many cheap and effective home remedies.Egg white, lemon juice, oil massage are other home remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/hairfall.htm... will prevent further problems.

Why is my hair falling out when i comb it?

Hair folicles die and are replaced all the time. When a folicle is dead, I think it's more likely for the hair to fall out. If hair is coming out in chunks, it could either be stress or a disease.

Hair loss!?

The average person looses 50-100 strains of Hair per day. This is nothing to worry about. It is very normal

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

I have a huge static problem with my hair, it's fairly long, i'd hate to cut it anymore than i already have, but its impossible to brush/comb, the moment i run a brush/comb through it, bits of hair fly out all over the place, making it impossible to to put into high ponytails, or even just to leave down, as the wild flying hairs just get tangled.......

my mother recommended fabric softener sheets, which i found work very well, but the problem is, it only works for up to 1 hour, or until the next time i runa comb through it, and it leaves such a strong scent.........

anyone know of some sort of shampoo or conditioner designed to treat static-ey hair? thanks ^_^

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

try using a leave-in conditioner. the added moisture and oil should help tame it a little. i have some clients with this same problem. i also recommend the fabric sheets (it really does work), but you're right...its just a temporary fix. a leave-in conditioner should help. and Bounce has an unscented product...just make sure you carry a few in your purse for after you brush you rhair

John Frita

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

Rub some hand lotion in your hands and lightly smooth over your hair.

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

try a glossing balm

its a clear liquid that is thicker than water.

it has silicone as an ingredient and you put it on dry hair and leave it in.

works great :D

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

For years I had the same problem. Since I have started using Garnier fructis shampoo and conditioner (no particular one) I haven't had the static problem once and we heat with wood over the winter which makes the house very dry.

I also tried spraying a bit of static guard on my hair brush which used to help a bit, but had about the same effect as the dryer sheets had for you.

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

It's overly dry conditions that cause this, so I'm guessing you are in a dry climate. Definitely try a conditioner, something meant for your hair type (read the labels, you can get them for thick, thin, dry, damaged, etc...different types of hair), or you can also buy a finishing silicone gel, and you use a VERY small amount on your hands and just smooth it over dry, styled hair. Works like a charm.

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

I have curly hair and it goes frizzy when brushed etc. What I do is to get some conditioner that is made for dry hair, it has extra moisterisers in it. Leave it in your hair a minute or so longer than you normally would then rinse. Hopefully you will find it makes the hair a little heavier and it will sit better.

I have tried a product called Frizz Ease which is quite good but depends where you live as to if you can get it or not. Any conditioner made for dry hair should work.

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

Static problem unheafty hair YES use pantean pro v work great for kind of hair and use hair sheen

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

the thing i found to work the best is hair spray you spray it in before you brush anb after

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

This is what I use, and it works great - I've seen it at every drugstore in town: http://www.johnfrieda.com/products/produ...

Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner are key as well.

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

Hello, well the problem is probably not your shampoo or conditioner, it is probably the dryness of the air in the area that you live. When the air lacks moisture, and friction occurrs it creates static. I don't know if you have a humidifier, but you can purchase one at Wal-mart fairly cheap(under $20).There is a cool mist or steam vaporizer, either should help. I would suggest that first. Try running it in your home at night, but be sure not to run it unless you are home. I would also try using the fabric softner sheets in your dryer with your clothing to help prevent static in them, which will transfer to your hair when you brush or comb it. Liquid fabric softner in with your clothes when you wash will work well too. I don't know of any shampoos or conditioners that are made for this, as that is not what causes it. The air in your home is too dry, that is more than likely what is causing your static problem. Good Luck sweetie, I hope this helps.

Major hair static problem, anything that can help?

Try using Sunsilk Anti-flat conditioner or Sunsilk Straighten-Up 24/7 Creme. It'll get rid of static and it leaves a really nice, light fragrance.

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

Ok, I feel like I've read just about every question/answer on yahoo regarding hair loss, shampoos, conditioners, this that, blah blah blah, and to be quite honest, I'm very confused because I'm hearing different things everywhere I go.

I'm a 22 yr. old male, everyone in my family (past and present) has had a full head of hair well into their 70s and 80s. I'm noticing a slight bit of hair loss, mostly in the front-to-mid section of the scalp, some look like mini bald spots while some might be mistaken for "hair parts" like when you comb your hair to one side.

I just starting taking a multivitamin, trying to eat healthier now and relax as well. I was using selsun blue for almost a year 'cuz I had a dandruff problem, I didn't know when to stop using it and I was washing every day. So now I havent washed my hair in 2 days, I stopped using selsun and am trying to find the right stuff to use.

(MORE IN ADDITIONAL DETAILS)

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

Here's the thing...no one solution is going to work for every one. You need to experiment with different things to see what works best for you. However, you are 22 and YOU could or SHOULD be able to go to a doctor on your own and pay out of your pocket if it concerns you that much...the only thing is that a general practitioner may send you to a dermatologist who may then send you to a scalp specialist and each one is going to want to run some tests and it is going to add up quickly. It would be much easier for you to try some of the online suggestions.

Now, being that I am a self-proclaimed product junkie...I reccomend NIOXIN products. You can find them in a salon. Call several salons in your area and ask if they carry them and then go in and get a hair stylist to show you which combo you need to try. You do have to use it for a while but I know several people that now have fuller thicker hair and regrowth in thinning places on their head. But you must be patient. And i don't think that the number of times you wash your hair has anything to do with you losing it. Maybe using higher quality products would be better for you rather than the stuff you can buy at a grocery store.

OR you could just shave it all off and go with that look.

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

Get yourself to a reputable salon a good hair dresser can answer your questions and point you in the right direction in what you should do.

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

Its very guseful to have a profess璋媜nal help but in our country, people usually apply marinade and n璋媡 on their head adn the area which hair doesnt grow

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

Have you tried taking a multi-vitamin and applying coconut oil in the areas of baldness while massaging the scalp. Massaging the scalp helps to open up lazy hair follicles. Try it, it worked for my uncle. He applied a small amount of coconut oil (it safe for all hair types) to his scalp nightly and massaged it for about 5 minutes per bald spot and he had an amazing growth spurt in a matter of 2 weeks. You can also try other oils if you are allergic to coconut. Hope this helps!

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

Get a mild shampoo with vitamin E in it...this vitamin helps your hair grow. Using selsun blue for too long probably didn't help your hair either. It has very harsh chemicals in it and will eat at the folicles. Get a seperate conditioner that isn't too heavy. Wash your hair every other day, not every day. Do not over process your hair (hair dryer use, gels, mousse, hairspray, etc.). Massage through your scalp or have someone else massage it where the hair is thin using a vitamin E base. Brush your hair with a soft brush and do not use a detangler on it when it is wet. You should brush your hair at least twice a day. This should help. Good Luck!

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

I take biotin to make my hair grow and it really works! It's from the b-vitamin family. I also knew a lady who was sick for a while and she lost a lot of hair. Her dr. told her to start taking biotin and about six months later, her hair is back to normal.

I have also used Dr. Miracles Gro Balm. You can find it at a beauty supply store.

As for shampoo and conditioner, I would suggest something that is going to deep clean and unclog your pores. I really like Burt's Bees Grapefruit and Ginger Beet shampoo and conditioner. You can find it at CVS or any big retailer or naturals store.

For now, go ahead and wash your hair since it needs it. You should shampoo at least every other day. But I think men should shampoo every day. Good Luck!

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

I think the first thing you should do is go to a dermatologist and then go from there.

Hair loss -- Everyone is saying something different, how does one determine what exactly they need?

Severe hair problems may cause anguish.Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Here a few simple home remedies which can be tried at home to control hair fall. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea. Massage well and shampoo.Rub oil into the scalp. Wring out a towel in hot water and wrap it on the head. Keep it on for 15 minutes. Help with African-American daughter's hair, please?

I need help with my six year old daughter's hair. She is half African-American and when she was little she had the most beautiful hair. I used to get compliments on it all the time 'cause she had such big, soft spirals. Now, as she's getting older, she's getting more of her fathers hair and less of mine. It's very frizzy, dry, fluffy and unruly. Comb outs are a nightmare, she screams and cries hysterically, and I find that more and more African- American woman are stopping me in public (as if they are so disappointed in me for having an African-American baby and not doing her hair to there standards) and asking me questions like: "do you put anything in her hair?" or "do you know how to comb her hair?" or "what do you put in her hair?", the compliments all inadvertently changed to insults about two years ago. I would just love it if someone could give me some tips or recommend some products that would give her soft, silky frizz-free spirals again.~ Thank You.

Help with African-American daughter's hair, please?

I have a lot of African-American clients and with curly hair it does get very frizzy and dry. My hair is curly also, but a more relaxed curl, although I used to have problems with frizz and dryness. The best that I have found is Redken AllSoft shampoo and conditioner. Also, Redken has AllSoft Heavy cream that you can use about twice a week to deep condition. When you rinse the conditioner out, leave just a LITTLE bit in the hair. After shampooing and conditioning, use a wide tooth comb to get rid of tangles. With this conditioner you shouldn't get many tangles though. After combing, use Redken Ringlet (a curl perfector) on all sections of the hair making sure to get all of it covered. Somtimes you can also mix a little of the conditioner and Ringlet together and put it all over the hair. Make sure not to comb through the hair or scrunch it while it is drying. Let the hair air dry and she should have perfect curls. I don't like using anything too oily on the type of hair your daughter has because it seems to make it look really greasy. With the combination of the AllSoft and Ringlet you shouldn't have anymore problems with people criticizing her hair. Hope this helps...

Help with African-American daughter's hair, please?

Dont go out and buy anything expensive.

First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)

Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)

Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)

Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short

Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften %26amp; remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!

The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower

You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences "clean happy" conditioner.

When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo %26amp; condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years

You can find olive oil anywere, but the other oils you will have to buy at a local organics store, wholes foods or BJ's health corner.

Use dove conditioner... it makes hair very soft... and if you can't obtain the curly look.... try flat ironing it once in a while to eliminate the frizz and just let her wear it straight

Frist get a good moisturizing shampoo. Cream of Nature works well for detangling. While shampooing and rinsing, comb out the hair with a wide-tooth comb. For styling, while hair is wet apply a good leave-in conditioner and finger comb the hair, allowing it to dry naturally. It should curl up in it's natural state as it dries.

For combed styles, try parting and sectioning her hair into 3-4 even sections. It may be easier to do this while the hair is wet. While combing use a good moisturizer. Each section should be fastened with barretts (not too tightly) and the hanging hair can be braided or use a comb to make curls. I hope some if this helps.

Help with African-American daughter's hair, please?

with many mix childrens hair u have to treat it like if she was fully black...put a perm in it or press it out with a flat iron or a hot comb with a lil hair oil...but nothing to weigh it down or too greasy cause it will only further dry it out

and when you wash it dont let it dry with out a moisturizer or it will be difficult to handle...dont wash it everyday!!! and when u do was it condition it really well....dont try to just comb thru it with out a moisturizer...little simple things...

if u google it or go to a local Sally's and just start looking around and reading about your daughters type of hair it will become a lot easier and u'll atleast kno what you have to work with....

also...there is this faboulous website called http://www.curls.biz/ and if you go to the link there for the kids...it should really give u a big leap of help for what u need...

I would try a long layered hair cut. Your daughter has the same amount of hair right now as she will when she is an adult. So her tiny head is now a mess! It will get better once her head grows to fit the amount of hair she has. SAMY products from Walgreen's are inexpensive. On the more expensive side I would go with AVEDA, PAUL MITCHELL, or BUMBLE and BUMBLE. When you wash your Daughters hair (1 or 2 times per week) leave damp and only comb through it once to create channels for the spiral curls to form and then allow to air dry. You may want to form the spirals with you finger by twisting the hair around and that is good too. Then LEAVE IT ALONE! This will reduce the puffiness. I'm mixed so I know your Dilemma. Hope this helps!

Help with African-American daughter's hair, please?

I HOPE THIS HELPS. THIS IS AN EASY FOUR STEP PROCESS THAT INCLUDES:

*SHAMPOOING/CLEANSING

*CONDITIONING

*DETANGLING

*MOISTURIZATION

WELL, FIRST YOU NEED TO GET A GOOD MOISTURIZING SHAMPOO. I FIND "CREAM OF NATURE" TO BE ONE OF THE BEST.

AFTER 2-3 SHAMPOO'S, USE A GOOD, MILD CONDITIONER. THERE IS A LINE OUT CALLED "JUST FOR ME". ITS A LINE OF KID PRODUCTS THAT WORK GREAT. TRY USING THEIR CONDITIONER.

AFTER RINSING OUT THE CONDITIONER, USE SOME DETANGLER. "JUST FOR ME" HAS A GREAT DETANGLER!! USE THAT TO OMB OUT HER HAIR. BELIEVE ME, IT STOPS ALL OF THE CRYING.

ALSO, U SHOULD USE A BLOW-DRYER THAT HAS A COMB ATTACHED TO IT. IT DRIES THE HAIR WHILE, DETANGLING IT, AND STRAIGHTENING IT A LITTLE.

AFTER HER HAIR IS DRY, TRY USING "LUSTERS PINK OIL MOUSTIRIZER. ITS A MOISTURIZING LOTION THAT WORKS GREAT IN HAIR. PART HER HAIR IN 1/2-1 INCH SECTIONS, AND RUB THE MOISTURIZING LOTION THROUGH THE PART TO MOISTURIZE HER SCALP. ONE FINISHED, COMB HER HAIR TO MAKE SURE THE MOISTURIZING LOTION GET TO THE ENDS OF THE HAIR. YOU MAY EVEN WANT TO PUT SOME IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND, RUB YOU HANDS TOGETHER, AND THEN RUB IT ON HER HAIR.

THIS SHOULD MAKE HER HAIR SOFTER, SHINIER, AND EASIER TO MANAGE.

IF ALL ELSE FAILS, MAYBE YOU SHOULD SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP, OR TRY ASKING WOMEN ON HER FATHER'S SIDE OF THE FAMILY HOW U SHOULD MANAGE HER HAIR.

HOPE I HELPED :)

Your daughter needs a comb out spray and a hair lotion.

Buy Luster's Pink Oil Moisturizing Lotion.

Use a extra large wide tooth comb when combing out her hair.

Use the Luster's Pink Lotion to stop the frizzes and make her hair soft and less dry.

At night braid her hair in two big braids so it would be easier to comb out in the morning.

Help with African-American daughter's hair, please?

Do not use motions or lusters pink oil moisturizer. They are full of really bad chemicals and are not good products to be used on children. Pink oil changes the colour of your hair and makes it very very dry

.Here are some GOOD tips:

1. WASH: Once a week, or preferably every other week, I wash her hair. Usually with baby shampoo. I wash twice, then condition her hair with a black hair conditioner called Optimum Care Stay Strong Conditioner (it's in a peach colored bottle) and cap her hair (with a shower cap or a disposable one from a black hair supply store) until right before her bath is over. I rinse it out with lukewarm water, then quickly rinse it with freezing cold water to seal the pores in her hair to keep the moisture locked in. (or at least that's what someone has told me since she was a baby) Also, when your child's hair is in braids, it's better to not let it get wet during bathtime.

If you have to wash it do so and rinse thoroughly. NEVER condition hair that is any type of braids (cornrows, box, parted sections braided, etc) because the conditioner is difficult to completely rinse out and if it stays under the hair which is damp next to the scalp, it is NOT good....A veritable breeding ground for germs and mold: Dark, Damp, Moist and with something (hint hint:Conditioner) that should NOT be there. Hey, if you enjoy mildew on your kid's hair, go for it. But don't be surprised if you get a nasty surprise. ONLY condition hair that is "loose and free" of any hairstyles.

DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENTS: It's also a good idea to give your child's hair a deep conditioning treatment every 2 weeks. (Follow directions in section 8, #5 for instructions.) either at home or preferably at a salon for the hooded dryer benefit. If you want to, you can buy a portable hooded dryer that rolls right up behind a chair so you can give home treatments. Sally's beauty supply has a few models available, and I'm sure a google search on the internet could help too....

2. PARTING, MOISTURIZING AND GREASING HAIR AND SCALP

After she is out of the bathtub, I towel dry her hair until it is still damp, and part her hair down the middle, and clip it to the side, then I part the other side down the middle and clip it again until it's divided into 4 sections from forehead to nape. I work each section with a wide toothed comb with rounded edges from the ends to the scalp. Then I take a smaller comb and keep making parts and greasing the scalp all over the section I'm working on. I usually don't use greases. What I do use, is "BB Castor Oil Hair Strengthening Cream with Aloe" lotion. It's a black hair product that comes in a white tub with pink lettering on it and a pink lid and can be found in almost any drugstore.

After I have parted it, I use a spritz bottle with water in it to mist my daughter's hair lightly and I use a leave in moisturizer called "Lustrasilk Moisture Max (mega-moist oil moisturizing hari lotion...restores vital moisture, body, and sheen to dry damaged hair) which comes in a white bottle with blue lettering and a blue cap. I've found this in both black hair supply stores as well as Wal-Mart. I repeat this parting and moisturizing of the scalp and hair until the entire head is done, making as many "parts" as possible to each section to make sure the scalp is thoroughly "greased".

Always be very careful when combing your child's hair as it is very fragile, and the water weakens it even more. Never comb hair starting from the scalp. It stretches the hair and causes it to snap, which in turn will cause split ends which must be trimmed. Always start at the ends, and work in sections. Really kinky hair is almost impossible to comb through unless you make parts. In general, black hair will not grow much if it is not kept in braids and pulled back to keep pressure on the roots to stimulate the hair to grow.

Also since as I said black hair is very fragile, the grease and braids are actually PROTECTING it!! Those cute little beaded black girls you see with 10 thousand beaded and barretted, braided hairstyles that seem overly done up to some white people, actually probably have pretty healthy, long hair....all thanks to the mother staying on top of keeping it braided. The thicker (and usually, but sometimes not) coarser your child's hair is, the more braids and parts will be needed to have it done. Actually for really thick hair, braided (cornrows) will probably be the only time it can be combed through, and the braids are the only way it will grow. If your black child's hair has never been in braids, and it stays perpetually short and won't grow, it's probably because it's not in braids. So, the next time you see some swinging beads or barrettes on a beautiful black child, smile and compliment her mother (and ask her for advice!!!).

3. PARTING (BOX PARTING) AND STYLING

When I have comleted instruction 2. I part the hair from side to side to separate the front from the back and band the front to the side out of my way. I then part the back into two pig tails, put a rubber band on my finger, and a dab of castor oil lotion, I comb one pig tail as close to the scalp as possible and rubber band it. (The rubber bands I mention are little tiny bands that are sold in most stores in the hair section next to the barrettes, etc. I buy them from the black hair supply store though, because I can usually get a whole tub of 500 of them for a dollar or two) I repeat this with the other pony tail. Then I start working on the front.

Basically, the rubber band, the dab of castor oil, and a parted section of hair are the only things you really need to do. It's called sectioning or box braiding, depending on how you part the sections of hair. I usually braid each section, but if I'm in a hurry I will rope twist the hair. Don't be afraid to get creative with your parts. Have fun with it, and learn which "styles" are most flattering and easiest for you to do. Parting makes perfect (nice straight parts that is) !!! Some people say the end of a rat tail comb is best for parts. I like to use the teeth of a comb....whatever works best for you.

4. TWISTS AND ROPE TWISTS

Twists and Rope twists look the same. You start with a rubber banded section of hair secured to the scalp. the you make two sections of hair. This is where it differs. For the longest time, I would simply wrap one strand around the other till I got to the end and then put a barrette at the end by wrapping the straight end of the barrette around the end and then snapping it shut. Trouble is, these would look cute for 1/2 the day and then the got really poofy and bunched up and frizzy looking.

HOW TO DO A ROPE TWIST

A "Rope Twist" looks the same, but is much smoother and neat looking and stays straight without bunching it up. Basically, you take the two sections of hair that you WOULD HAVE twisted. You hold the left section of hair between your thumb and pointer finger, doing the same in your right hand with the other section. Begin rolling the hair in your fingers simultaneously in a clockwise motion until it starts to look like two smooth ropes in each hand, (kind of like twisting sheeps wool into yarn to get a nice even thread) and once you have each "rope: started, begin crossing your right hand (with the rope) UNDER your left hand (with the rope) ,so that the strands look like an X, with the section that was in your left hand now on the top of the X and in your right hand, and with the section that was in your right hand underneath, and in your left hand.

You will keep doing this continuously, rolling the two strands as tightly as possible and strecthing the hair in a downward motion as you twist. If you are doing it correctly, it will almost seem as if the two "rope" strands are naturally wrapping around themselves of their own accord. The rope twists will turn out longer than a regular twist, because you are actually straightening the hair in a rope twist as opposed to just wrapping it around each other. Do this all the way to the end of the hair. You should end up with two ropes twisted smoothly around each other that looks like a twist, only much nicer looking. Wrap a barette at the end, and repeat with hair until the whole head is finished.

5. HOW TO PUT BEADS ON A BRAID

There is a product sold in black hair supply stores called a "Beading Wand" or something like that. It is a black wand with a circle at the bottom to stop the beads from falling off, and it has a large loop at the end, almost like a giant oversized needle loop only the wand is flexible plastic. (If you've ever bought the little packages of tiny beads at the black hair supply store, they usually have a little miniature version of the beading wand in white plastic. It's usually designed to look like kids, but if you are fortunate enough to find one of these in a package of miniature beads, take it to the cashier and show the wand to them, and ask them for the black wand, which is much larger by scale. They should know what you're talking about, and in every store I've gone to, they only cost one dollar. I always buy these because the amount of time they save me is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. These things literally save hours sometimes, depending on the size of beads you're using and the size of the braids, and there are MANY different sizes.

The basic concept to a beading wand is, you string the desired number of beads you want onto the wand. Then you take the end of the braid you want to bead, and put the end through the loop at the top of the wand and and hold the end of the hair together with the braid tightly in your hand with the loop of the beader in the center. You should then be able to "push" the beads onto the braid all the way up to the scalp. Take a little plastic rubber band and keep the very last bead from the wand separate from the other beads on the braid. Take the end of the braid and "loop" the last bead with the end of the braid, holding the end tightly as close as possible next to the bead. You should have just the one bead in your hand with the end of the braid wrapped around it. Take a little rubber band should and wrap it tightly (you'll get the hang of it after a while) around the bead repetitively until the bead is securely fastened. Take any little strands from the end of the braid that are still remaining above the rubber band (you'll see what I mean) and wrap it around the braid and then push the other beads back down the braid until it looks like just one long line of beads on the braid. It's your choice how many beads to use, but I personally believe that you should cover the braids from the scalp of the braid to the end as much as possible with beads. It looks better if you can't see the scalp. This sounds hard, but it is actually very easy with practice and saves you money on having to take your child to the hairdresser if you don't know how to cornrow braids (I don't know how to cornrow) .

Beads can be put onto anything: cornrows, box, braids, heck , even rope twists. (Actually, beading rope twists gives your kid that fancy look without having to take ten billion years to take out braids. ALWAYS braid every single bit of the end of a braid, even if it looks tiny enough to look at under a microscope. Only the very very very tip should not be braided because it will only be 1/2 an inch long anyway.....I would recommend asking a beautician in hair salon to show you.(usually hairstylists who specialize in Jamaican hairstyles will know what you are talking about) The best thing about rope twist is that they look nicer than braids and give the hairstyle a more "natural look" and they are so easy to take out it's almost ridiculous. If you don't want to use barettes, you can part it into little rows of boxes (the way box braid extensions are parted) and just rope twist the entire head. You will end up with an adorable hair style that looks almost like dreads....almost. Or if you want your daughter's hair styled in corn rows, instead of braiding and beading the ends of the hair you could try rope twisting the hair once the braided section is off the scalp. I tried this on my daughter and it came out absolutely BEAUTIFUL, even better than beads or barrettes, which will give your child a more "grown up" appearance" when they start feeling too old for "little girl"styles.

6. HOW TO TAKE OUT BRAIDS

Speaking of taking out braids. An extremely simple way of taking out braids very quickly, is to use the tail end of a rat comb (the end has to be pointy.....it can't be one of those poorly made ones that are dull and rounded at the end like from the 2/$1.00 bin in the black hair stores. I would look for the quality combs that you can get at CVS, Wal-Mart or Target in the ethnic hair section or comb/brush section. What is a rat comb? Well, they are usually a mustardy yellow color, they have very fine teeth at the end, and the rest of the comb is a long pointed tail. (If you still don't know what I'm talking about, ask your beautician what it looks like) As I said earlier, you take the pointy tail end of the rat comb, and starting at the bottom of the braid, insert the pointy part DIRECTLY into the very smack dead center of the braid, and move the comb downwards. The braid should start to unravel very easily, and is quicker and less painful to the child's scalp to unbraid this way. ALWAYS work your way up from the bottom of the braid up to the top of it. If you try to start at the top, you'll just hit snarls, and have to start at the bottom anyway. If you are taking out beads, use the teeth of a rattail comb to snap the rubber bands off. Hold the braid very tightly and pull very hard to snap the rubber band. you'll get the hang of it.

7. HOW TO BLOW-DRY / STRAIGHTEN HAIR FOR BRAIDING AND STYLING

If I want to blow-dry my dauther's hair straight (it makes rope twist turn out beautifully) I wash and condition it as usual. then I use the "Lustrasilk Moisture Max" I mentioned earlier and distribute it evenly throughout my daughter's hair. I take the blow dryer with the comb attachment, and from the scalp down (I also section her hair as described in part 2 above) I take a section of her hair and dry her hair with it., repeatedly with the blow dryer until it is completely dry from scalp to ends. At this point, it will still appear to be a little frizzy, but extremely soft. Use as much moisturizer as you need. If you use too much, you can always dry it with the blowdryer!!

IT IS ALWAYS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO USE A MOISTURIZER OR PROTECTIVE AGENT ON YOUR CHILDS HAIR BEFORE USING ANY TYPE OF HEAT, as this is what will protect your child's hair from becoming dried, fried and frazzled from the heat of the hair dryer. Then I take the hair dryer (it would do you good to go out and buy a salon quality top of the line hair dryer, that you can use a comb attachment piece with fastened at the end of it.......that way you only have to work (sort of) with one hand.....ask your black hair beautician what kind of blow dryer she uses....) I repeat this moisturizing and blow drying of my daughter's hair until her whole head is completely dried. I then re-part it into the 4 sections as described in part 2, and start the whole process over again, THIS TIME, using "Luster's Pink Light Oil Moisturizer" (I use the light one for my daughter's finer textured hair. You can use the regular pink oil moisturizer if your child's hair is kinkier or more coarse textured...The results you will get will absolutely astound you.

Remember, every thing takes practice, and don't be afraid to ask your black hairstylist to show you, even if you have to stand over her shoulder to learn. If she has an attitude, just ignore it and tip well, ESPECIALLY if she braids well. The skill of a hairdresser is judged by how long the cornrow braids stay looking nice after being braided. If they don't even last a week before they start looking fuzzy, you need to go to another salon, because there is no reason why a good hairdresser's braids shouldn't last for at least two weeks. The amount of straightness you will achieve with your child's hair depends on the kinkyness or texture of it. The finer the hair, the straighter it will be the kinker, the less straighter. This straightening is intended to prepare your child's hair for hair styling, not wearing straight down her back....because no matter how hard you try, the very ends will still stay slightly frizzy.

The purpose of blowdrying it straight in this way is to help the braids (cornrows) lie down flatter and smoother against the scalp, giving the hairstyle a much nicer appearance. Your hairstylist (if you bring your child to a salon to have her hair braided) will appreciate your efforts and will have less of an attitude with you if you bring your child to them with their hair already washed and blowdried. The different moisturizers and oil products that can be used to blowdry black hair straight vary depending on what works best for your child.

The point to remember is to moisturize first to protect hair from the heat, then use the oil, hair greases or whatever to make it lie as flat and smooth (and less frizzy) as possible. The heat helps the curls release themselves and straighten out. Also, if you plan to take your daughter to a black beauty salon to have her hair braided, she will greatly appreciate you practicing your skills with a beading wand, and you can bead your child's hair yourself after she finishes each braid, since even with the wand, it can be time consuming. She will appreciate you saving her time, and it will earn you brownie points with her. Plus it's good practice, and gets you home faster!!!

8. RELAXER (PERM) KITS

Since I'm on a roll here, I might as well share my knowledge of Relaxers and Perm Kits: DO NOT PUT THEM IN YOUR CHILD'S HAIR!!!! The harshness of the chemicals can have a PERMANENT (and I DO mean permanent) negative effect on the health of your child's hair even up to adulthood. There are different types: Extra Extra mild, mild, regular, super, super duper....etc....for both adult and children's hair. The types depend on the texture and kinkiness of your child's hair. If you insist on relaxing her hair, don't bother with a white hair salon because they don't know nearly as much about black hair care as a black hair stylist does. If you decide to relax her hair at home, have an experienced black hair stylist examine your child's hair and recommend what brand and type of children's relaxer you need. TEST a small section of hair first, BEFORE you begin, to see how your child's hair reacts, and to see how much straightening will actually occur. Then, if you're still hell bent on destroying your child's hair, follow these directions. BE FOREWARNED THOUGH, that relaxers are not just a one time deal, and you WILL have to stay on top of retouching your child's hair as new growth comes in.

Relaxers change the texture and composition of your child's hair P E R M A N E N T L Y!! The texture of the natural "new hair" that grows in after a relaxer is also called "virgin hair" which means natural hair that has not been chemically altered. The virgin hair, and the relaxed hair are two completely different textures. The point where the virgin hair and the relaxed hair meets, is extremely fragile where the relaxed part is. If you do not continuously retouch your child's hair to treat the new growth/virgin hair with a relaxer, YOUR CHILD'S HAIR WILL BREAK OFF AT THE POINT WHERE THE VIRGIN HAIR AND THE RELAXED HAIR MEETS!! Translation: If you do not stay on top of retouching your child's virgin hair EACH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME a retouch is due, your child's hair will begin to break off until she basically has an afro of 2-3 inch long hair. (maybe even shorter)

When you relax hair, you are making a commitment to maintain your child's hair for as long as she has the relaxer in it. If you cant make the commitment, and choose to relax it anyway, then you might as well cut her hair all off now, because that is what will happen if you don't maintain her hair afterward!!! And if you grow tired of having a relaxer, the relaxed part of your child's hair will be permanently damaged and you will have to cut it and re-grow it again from scracth if you want to go back to her having natural hair!!! Wait until she is a teenager, when her hair is a little bit more matlure and closer to adult's hair.

1. About two weeks in advance, let your child's hair get as dirty, kinky, nasty, fuzzy and whatever else as possible. The dirtier it is, the better. DO NOT wash her hair before starting to apply the relaxer or you will be wasting your entire efforts. Relaxers work best on DIRTY hair. They fail miserably on freshly washed, squeaky clean hair.

2. Part as described in section 2 earlier, and grease your child's ENTIRE SCALP, leaving NO PART of your child's scalp untouched by grease. Also, grease the ENTIRE hairline of your child's head around the entire scalp. It is better to use some type of hair grease, but if you have to, you can use vaseline, to grease the scalp and hairline. This is to protect your child's scalp from chemical burns from the relaxer.

3. Part your child's hair as described in section 2 earlier and, wearing the protective gloves, dip the comb into the relaxer (after mixed according to the packages/manufacturer's instructions) and begin combing one section starting at the ends and gradually working your way to the roots. Completely cover each section of hair with the relaxer, using a wide toothed comb and then a smaller toothed comb, etc. Do each section, AND WORK QUICKLY!!! The relaxer will start taking effect on your child's hair immediately, as soon as you put it in the hair, and if you are too slow combing the relaxer through her head, you will burn her hair and it may even start breaking off when it's rinsed out. Recruit as many people as your child can stand to have in her hair, to comb the sections with relaxer as quickly as possible to minimize the risk of burns. Focus especially on the ends and the roots, as these are the most resistant parts of hair.

4. AS SOON AS she begins to complain of her scalp burning the point that it's uncomfortable or unbearable to her, IMMEDIATELY wash it out!!! Do not delay, or you may end up with permanent damage. There's a special kind of shampoo called "De-Activating" shampoo that's orange. Ask the sales person in the store to sell it to you. Repeatedly wash your child's hair with this shampoo in the sink as many times as necessary, until the suds, rinse off completely clear. If the suds are still orange and not clear, you still have chemicals in her hair and need to keep washing it. When you buy the relaxer, check inside the box if possible to see what kind of conditioner they have included with it. If not, you will need to buy a conditioning treatment along with the deactivation shampoo to treat your child's hair. The more intense: moisturizing, therapeutic or whatever, the better. Hair Cholesterol is a good choice, and is really cheap. Actually, you should buy the hair cholesterol in a tub, because you will need to deep condition (as described below) it continuously on a regular basis. You should deep condition your child's hair regardless of whether or not she has or has not been chemically processed, and will help by leaps and bounds if it has been. The conditioning treatment should be applied just as if you regular wash and shampoo her hair, only this time the conditioner will stay on her head under a cap,or a warm damp towel for 20 minutes. If you can get her under a hair dryer, that's even better. Then rinse her hair, towel dry, comb and whatever else you want to do with it.

5. Deep condition every 2 weeks as described in #4, (above) and re-touch the virgin hair every 3-4 weeks or so, or as reccomended by your ethnic hair stylist. Retouching means you will have to repeat relaxing her hair again, as described in sections 1-4 only you will only be relaxing the virgin hair, and not the part that is already relaxed. You should also ask your black hair stylist to recommend shampoo and conditioning products (besides the hair cholesterol) specifically designed for relaxed or chemically treated hair for children.....as you will need them for as long as your child has no virgin hair on her head.
