My daughter came home with head lice last Friday. RID didn't work. Combs didn't work. Someone suggested using vaseline to suffocate the bugs. I did that and now I can't get it out. I noticed online someone suggested using dishwashing liquid soap. It helped a little but overall her hair is a sticky mess. I've used pesticide spray on her bed and room and other hurniture around the house. I've washed her things in hot water and etc. Ig to most of the eggs out and then the next day i saw more in her hair. Then I saw more bugs. They are hatching and I can't seem to kill them and get them out of her hair. Now I can't even get a comb through her hair. She looks just like Shirley Temple with a hed full of curls. I hope I don't have toshave her head. I can't bear the thought...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
How do you get vaseline out of a caucasian child's hair? shampoo should work
How do you get vaseline out of a caucasian child's hair? To get petroleum jelly out of fine hair, you simply have to keep washing it. My son decided to use it once for a "fifties" look, instead of going for hair oil - it was a total mess. Get the water as hot as she can stand it (let HER decide how hot that is), and just keep washing until it's gone. I'd suggest trying a dishwashing liquid like Dawn; it IS good with grease. Don't try drying the hair inbetween washings. Once the petroleum jelly is out, then try the RID again; if that doesn't work, talk with a doctor about treatment.
How do you get vaseline out of a caucasian child's hair? being very very careful, try isopropyl alcohol for the vaseline in your daughters hair, keep it away from her eyes!
as far as the lice, i popped over to www.headlice.org
Parents want to take immediate action for the lice problems their children bring home. Unfortunately, many often perceive their homes to have lice rather than the children. The truth of the matter is that the majority of head lice transmissions occur through person-to-person contact. Spraying the environment or hiring extermination services for head lice eradication is unwarranted, and can pose potential health threats.
If you continue to be infested with live lice after treatment, discontinue use of the products and don't use other products in the hope of killing the lice. Remember, these products are not mere shampoos, cremes or lotions, they are pesticides.
Never resort to dangerous remedies such as lindane, kerosene, or pet shampoos.
Manual removal is crucial. Beyond snipping or pulling out the nits, you should also be screening for and removing live lice. Having at least two people check an infested person is important as one person cannot see the entire scalp. Lice move quickly and shy away from light when you are checking.
Don't spend hours on end cleaning your environment. Head lice need human blood to survive. Vacuum surface areas only. Save your time and energy for what will benefit you most, delousing the individual. NEVER USE A LICE SPRAY!
When screening for lice with a nit-removal comb, it may be helpful to dip it into water and clean it before going to the next section of hair.
Equip yourself and your helpers with a magnifying glass, tweezers, safety scissors, and a nit-removal comb.
If you are experiencing treatment failure, please report it to the NPA's Registry by clicking here.
How do you get vaseline out of a caucasian child's hair? Try dawn dish washing soap. My sister decided to"do" our little brother's hair with Crisco-we were out of gel, it worked nicely. It took about 3-4 washings but it came out.
How do you get vaseline out of a caucasian child's hair? when you use the vaseline, you need to leave it on her hair for at least 30 to 48 hours. to make sure all the bugs are dead. Put a shower cap over her hair while you have the vaseline on it. And yes you will have to wash her hair many times to get it all back out. Dawn dishwashing soap is the best for that. you will also still have to follow through with a nit comb. and repeat the treatment in 7 days to get rid of any that hatched and were missed the first time. This is a very common problem these days, the little critters are getting immune to most of the chemicals that are on the market. I have heard of honey being used too, but have not heard of good results with that. good luck..
Been there--done that
