Are you supposed to comb/brush thick wavy hair?

I believe it would frizz up, won't it? But if I don't brush/comb it, the flyaways would be absolutely terrifying, not to mention the tangles, so how do I deal with my hair?

i've got the same type of hair (really thick, long and wavy) i brush mine, after washing it i brush it then i plait it and leave it over night, then when i take it down in the morning at's still kinda damp with loads of waves then i put hair spray over it....try it.....it looks great

it wont b tangled if you tie it up neatly straght after.
