Does gel effect hair loss?

No, gel doesn't effect hair loss. How you style your hair with the gel probably has something to do with it though. I find that when people put gel in their hair, while they're styling it they pull on it.... A lot.... A few years ago I used to do the same thing except for without the gel and I started seeing the same thing that you are seeing right now. This is because when you put so much pressure on your hair and subject it to being pulled a lot on a daily basis it will start coming out of your scalp and you will start seeing thinning. People also tend to pull on their hair a lot when they're washing the gell out because it's hard to get all the knots out afterwards, and that causes hair breakage and loss after a while.

Also, other things that may be the cause of this, just in case you think one of them is a problem: stress in any part of your life, your shampoo and conditioner (no, I'm serious), a bad gene from your family tree (could very well be the case). Any of them could really be the problem.

You may want to consider taking up a different style if you are really concerned about this and just take good care of your hair and you should be fine. Best of luck

You are losing your hair. The gel has nothing to do with it (except that it makes your receding hairline look more obvious - yes, gel does that).

well if you put a lot of gel on and dont wash your hair after awhile yes, you can lose your hair. Well thats what i think. If you do put a lot of gel then i suggest you put less next time. Or go to a hair salon and ask them if it does.

The most common and most probable cause of hair lost is genetic. You inherit baldness. There are people that are losing hair at a young age, so, the reason of aging has to do with it but not that much. My mother is 90 years old and has a full head of hair. Testosterone, believe it or not, could be cause of losing hair. Hormonal imbalance. Illness and infectious diseases.Nervous disorders. Some ulcer drugs and anticoagulants may also promote hair loss as a by product. I doubt that hair-would be one of the contributors.

It could be male pattern baldness or it could be some other health condition such as Hypothyroidism. You should see a doctor to rule this out.

Hair gels can mix with sebum %26amp; clog follicules. I highly recommend products by Nioxin.
